Although we had a lot of donations and we exceeded our donation goal for the third year in a row, we had a small group at the walk this year. But we loved the people who came out to support Owen and our family. Thank you Beth, Eva, Elise, and Aiden--we had a wonderful time with you and we hope you'll come out again next year. It was also great to say hi to some of our T21 friends--Jamie, Brian and Ella, Molly and Anne. And once again I got to spend time with my favorite meteorologist, Dave Dahl from Channel 5, who emceed our event again.
We also got to spend time with some new friends. Erika, her husband Robert, and their adorable 14 month old Jax just moved to the Cities from South Carolina. I connected with Erika through the IDSC Facebook page and we met over coffee a couple of weeks ago. The walk gave us a good chance to talk with them and I think they really liked seeing the celebration that the walk has become. Owen's Crew will gladly set up shop next door to "Jax Attack" next year!
October is Down syndrome Awareness month and to celebrate this year I'll be doing several blog hops, reviewing some great memoirs and hosting several giveaways (open to everyone!). I won't be writing everyday this year--I just can't keep up with my personal workload right now--but I am planning to post often!
